Today we did the Run for the Ridge here in our hometown. As usual, he was way ahead of me and as usual, he was cheering me on when I got to the finish line. I could hear him yelling from pretty far back. Seeing the finish line is usually a mood-lifter, but seeing the finish line and hearing your son cheer for you is way beyond that.
I wish I could be there cheering for him as he goes through basic training. It's so hard to know that not only will we not be with him but for a while, we won't even be able to talk to him. The day is fast approaching, 9 days to be exact and I am very glad we have ran this race together before he left. And even though we aren't there, I hope he can somehow feel our cheers and encouragement from afar. We are SO proud of him!
