Well, it's been a week since I've posted, which is a milestone and a good sign. It is a sign that on some level I have adjusted to the fact that my son is away. I miss him, terribly, all the time. But it is not the first thing I think of every morning and it is not as painfully distracting as it once was. I love getting his letters and hearing all of the funny stories from OSUT. In his last one, he said he had someone steal an apple and an orange from the chow line for him. He said, 'don't worry Mom, all I would've had to do is some extra push ups if I had gotten caught.' I'm trying to picture a kid getting chewed out for stealing fruit at Army basic training. It seems like a Saturday Night Live skit in the making. He's almost done and more than ready to move on and do some more challenging things. He said they actually let them take a nap the other day. Yes, it is time to move on and he is ready. I am ready too.
A Soldier's Mom
This is a journal about my experiences as a soldier's Mom. My son gradated OSUT at Fort Benning in October 2013. He is currently stationed at Fort Carson, CO.
